Almost ready to sail

So, on Sunday I decided to rig the sails after a one hour motoring trip to get a little feel of the boat. Checked the oil again and confirmed that it was jet black - need to change that this next weekend.

Pulled out the bag that said "Main" on it and discovered a sail that was just jammed into the bag. After pulling it all out, found that it had hanks!!! Needless to say, it was my 150 Genoa.

Got the right sail out and it went on just as slick as could be. Ran it up (no wind to speak of ) and dropped it back down with no problem. Then the First Mate and I got the the jib and Genoa and properly repacked them. We plan to take her out and give Hattie L her first taste of sail.

Getting the feel for the boat and the accomodations and all if pretty good. Must admit, since I tend to be the Chief Cook, that I was surprised how much heat an alcohol stove puts out.

Hattie L to be launched on May 18, 2010

We have changed from a Helms 25 to a Hunter 31 and now have to create a new blog to follow its adventures. Today we are getting Hattie L snatched off her cradle and dropped into the waters of Seneca Lake for her summer home at Slip 214 at the Harbor Marina in Watkins Glen, NY.
